Distributed fashion implies on consensus based organisation which could be trusted only if PoW is proven... What about "Online"?! :)))

You’ve now got me thinking about a term that better includes both fully distributed workplaces and those with a central office that allow remote. It’s too early for this. Yes, the poll is very telling.

Indeed. Central-type work has boomed since the last industrial revolution when mass production of physical merchandise is top priority and organization values monotony and standardization. Now, an instant transportation is just there; the last mile it's all about trust & mindset.

For many companies, a large portion of the workforce has to be on site for anything to work. Not all jobs have the luxury of being able to be done remotely.
-
I think that's obvious, but for knowledge-industry jobs, distributed workplaces allow more people to work, esp those who couldn't come in to a regular workplace; and work at a healthier pace. It brings different challenges (discipline, staying in sync, culture).

I'm truly interested to see what VR/AR will do for remote working in the future.

This begs the question though, doesn't it? How many "distributed" vs. "remote" positions are available? My guess is the second is far more common than the first. Would be curious to see some stats, though. Anyone?
