In the US there is basically one party- the business party. It has two factions, called Democrats and Republicans, which are somewhat different but carry out variations on the same policies. By and large I am opposed to those policies. As is most of the population. -Noam Chomsky

To paraphrase Eugene Debs; if the Democratic Party does not stand staunchly, unflinchingly, and uncompromisingly for the working class, then it stands for nothing, and its claim is a false pretense, and its organization a delusion and a snare.

Why is Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand reaching out to Wall Street, and not Main Street, to gauge potential support for a 2020 run? Could it be because she's received $972,749 from the Private Equity & Investment industry, and $4,828,111 from the Securities & Investment industry?

    Get to know Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY): - 7th largest recipient hedge fund money in 2018 - 8th all-time recipient securities & investment money ($4,828,111) - 9th all-time recipient hedge fund money ($731,220) - 12th all-time recipient private equity & investment money ($972,749)

Rep. Liz Cheney, daughter of Dick Cheney, yesterday attacked "the fraud of socialism." Really? I wasn't aware that it was "socialism" that lied about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, and got us into a horrific war that we should never have started.

Since the Progressive caucus has been co-opted it's probably time the handful of actual progressives in Congress form a new caucus that doesn't allow in Wall Street Democrats or folks who rely on corporate/PAC donations. Perhaps, it's time for a democratic-socialist caucus.

Would be neat if the hundreds of TSA workers on strike spread into a nationwide general strike against austerity and neoliberalism. I know I'm a dreamer.

Only 76 hours left. “I’ll tell you one thing for sure: if we [House Democrats] win the election, in the first 100 hours, we will pass a $15 minimum wage. We’d rather have it now. We’d rather win on the issue than worry about the election.” -Nancy Pelosi
