I'm old enough to remember he didn't say monkey around.
-
Ah. He said "Monkey things up." Which would imply that you're actually not offended by the "monkey" aspect. Which is just weird. Since that would be the aspect considered racist.
-
I'm not. I'm also not black. But I also don't get to decide if what was said is offensive. Because I'm not black. I assume you aren't either. So neither do you. That's how it works. You don't get to decide if someone outside of your demographic finds what is said about them is.
-
And I'm not. I'm simply laying out the hypocrisy. If what he said is offensive, then it all is. You can't pick and choose based on political party.
-
You’re changing the whole narrative and context of what was said. Saying Monkeying around and telling someone not to monkey something up by voting for a black man are 2 different things. Why not just hold him accountable for saying it and not look for a way to weasel out of it?
-
Actually, you're changing the narrative- probably by reading an article intended to do so. He made no reference to a black man, but to socialist policies. If he was making direct ref to a black man, you'd be absolutely right.
-
I didn’t read anything I actually watched it with my own eye. Are you telling me I didn’t hear what he said? He called the man a socialist and said he was articulate and performed better. I think you should go back and listen to what he actually said.
-
That might be true. I'm just talking about the "monkey" comment. He was using it as a verb and referencing socialist policies. How about we agree to disagree? Fair enough?
