When did the 2016 drought end
The globe has had no #hurricane-strength tropical cyclones since May 3. Only once since 1990 has the globe had 0 hurricanes from May 4 through June 5 - in 2016. Currently no areas are being monitored for imminent tropical cyclone development.pic.twitter.com/n6oWb828R5

The 2016 drought was remarkably long. We went from April 24 through July 3 with no global hurricanes. Both Blas (eastern North Pacific) and Nepartak (western North Pacific) reached hurricane strength on July 4 of that year.

No, this isn't right. Climate change will increase the temperature of the oceans, which can strengthen storms but doesn't necessarily make them more frequent. It can also cause more high altitude winds, keeping some storms from forming. So fewer, but more powerful storms. Yay?
