It's so hilarious that hackers are posting stuff like reverse engineering tutorials on pornhub because YouTube bans them. "Boss, I swear, it's not how it looks, I was watching a conference talk!"

Nos fascinamos por sucesos que ocurrirán dentro de milenios, nos asombramos por eventos que acontecen a miles de millones de kilómetros de distancia... y nos morimos en unas pocas décadas

Q: Why's our page's Time-to-Interactive high? 🤔 A: It's often Long (JavaScript) Tasks keeping the main thread busy ⏳ visualizes Long Tasks, making it easier to see what to optimize:

Become a better communicator overnight: - Replace every “but” you can with an “and” - Never start a sentence with “no” or “disagree” - Only give feedback if there’s a chance it will be implemented - Tell people you will be late before you are late - Bias to overcommunicating

Browsers can animate at least 4 things cheaply: position, scale, rotation & opacity. is still useful for checking if CSS triggers re-layouts or reflows.

Idea: Turn off animations if users are on a slow device. Demo with React (Next.js), Framer Motion & react-adaptive-hooks: (forces low-memory mode)

Khan Academy has 800,000+ lines of JS (not including modules) - no matter how you slice it that's a lot to build either for a deploy or incrementally during development. The smart play seems to break things into smaller chunks (services?) but how do you handle shared code?

Firefox just made fixing unnecessary/redundant scrollbars way easier! In the element inspector, you can find all elements with scrollable overflow 🔥

How Web Standards Work 1. design a flawed API (it's fine! APIs are hard) 2. ship it in the most-used browser, despite objections 3. get cross-browser working group to fix the API 4. oops, too late, that would break the web

The Rorschach Rule: when you show someone your code, what they see and how they respond says more about them then it does about the code itself.

Oh snap. Just found a situation where using a for of loop was BLAZINGLY FASTER than using a filter + reduce. Gotta figure out a good way to explain it, because it was just such a huge difference. Like, I'm talking: ~50ms vs ~2 minutes... Or something like that

All differences between JavaScript modules, classic scripts, and CommonJS. For the next time somebody asks me "why have different file extensions?".
