Are there any of my followers who are using ? What random_page_cost and seq_page_cost are you using (and on which tier)?

Hah, thanks! Yes, the default is still the same, seq = 1, random = 2 looks really outdated. AWS has better disks and probably it's time to do random = seq = 1 or so. And reconsider other things as well.
(I hoped that there are some Heroku users are around and they tuned that)
anyway, you pointed it very well, Peter – the article is from 2012, and Heroku still has default random_page_cost = 2 :-) 5 years, almost 6.

I would look at increasing cpu_tuple_cost before I looked at lowering seq_page_cost so aggressively
