It seems like a shame that BCC (github.com/iovisor/bcc) is presented in such a bottom-up way. This makes the tools look complicated and esoteric, whereas in reality they are broadly useful and often not that hard to use effectively.

Thanks! I watched a variant of that talk sometime ago, but never got around to making BCC tools available on production instances and actually using it for debugging / analysis.
