It seems like a shame that BCC (github.com/iovisor/bcc) is presented in such a bottom-up way. This makes the tools look complicated and esoteric, whereas in reality they are broadly useful and often not that hard to use effectively.

I think it's ideological, so I assume it would be a hard sell. I get why they present it that way: they want to prominently note what's technically innovative about BCC. I think that they should talk about why it's useful to many admins, where it fits in tooling landscape, etc.
