VoltDB only uses stored procedures because CPU/mem latency is bottleneck. Developers don't like SPs, but they retain significant advantages.

I don't think anyone has to be wrong here. Winner/loser metanarrative seems unhelpful.

I'm pointing out that, AFAICT, usage of SPs across the industry is lower now than in 2005, and continues to decline.

I can certainly believe it. IMV, it's more or less due to the economics of each approach for web apps. Doesn't invalidate arguments for SPs.
