yes, very. If per column collation can't be changed, dealbreaker. If it can, just very annoying.

:) the it still works, but it's a lot more work than if you can just set it on the database level.

That's about what I thought. So average Swedish programmers would be bothered by collation issue? Not just DB geeks?

definitely. Their data would be coming to back in the wrong order and they'd have to re-sort it in the application.

unless they use an orm which creates tables with explicit collations automatically. I don't know which one that would be though
