The problem is that I'm using the machine with low resources for dev. Even if I specify -j 10, make check-world takes a long time on it. So probably I should get new "richer" machine so that the test can finish after a few minutes.

I have found that using a Linux server with a MacBook works well if the server is close by. I really like the iTerm2 + tmux integration -- it feels like having a very powerful MacBook.
