Thinking about #Postgres Amazon #Aurora ? Beware ... 1. Vendor lock in- it is not open source any more. You are at mercy of your vendor on upgrades etc. 2. It is much expensive than AWS RDS.. about 20% 3. If you have secondary indexes on tables, the write load will be slower

Yup. Aurora duplicates data at the least 6 times across 3 availability zones!

Right, but I meant: Is it particularly sensitive to random write I/O, where disproportionately many pages are dirtied? Is something like a UUID index way slower?
