I assume this is all based on accurate modelling of nuclei? They look like banded octahedra. I'd always imagined them as wobbly spherical soups of randomly positioned neutrons and protons, so this is enlightening.

The ordered nuclear structure and oscillation axis was my depiction of what I found in a nuclear physics book that I found in the Uni library. I haven't seen the atomic nucleus presented in this way elsewhere, so I'd be interested if
