Few people in politics criticized him more harshly than I did in 2016. But I am a realist...
THREAD: ON BERNIE
With right-wing extremists running our govt. and with Trump sycophants like #MitchMcConnell, #LindseyGraham, #MikePence, #WilliamBarr shredding our norms and values, #BernieSanders is NOT the problem. In fact, he is out there spreading a progressive message.
THREAD: ON BERNIE We need as many people committed to a strong progressive message as possible. Especially when they inspire millions of young voters. It is VERY tough to set aside the frustration of 2016. But I implore Bernie and Hillary supporters to try to come together.
THREAD: ON BERNIE Sanders has his problems. I've criticized him on guns, enviro justice, and immigration. I've also criticized Hillary Clinton, who I worked for, on drones, fracking and Iraq. We can't expect our candidates to be flawless. But EVERYTHING is on the line in 2020...
THREAD: ON BERNIE There are a number of inspiring Dem candidates in a large and diverse field. Each has weaknesses and strengths. I haven't backed anyone and I don't plan to in the immediate future. But replaying 2016 fights, no matter who does it, harms our 2020 chances.

Look, I told hard truths in 2016, and I'm telling them now. I follow my heart and my gut. I know people get pissed off at me and it's their right. But the world I want to leave behind will be MUCH better led by someone like Sanders than Trump and his white nationalist cronies.
And to anyone questioning my loyalty and motives, I stuck with Hillary through thick and thin in 2016, despite being mobbed, threatened and harassed. I grew up in a war and I don't abandon people in the trenches. But Hillary isn't running today. And I want to win in 2020.
Trump will win 46 states if we run the millionaire socialist. He’ll point to the economy, and own suburbia.
This is why he can't win. Too many of us have been bullied, abused & insulted. He has at least 2 people high in his campaign who didn't support Hillary in 2016 which is a nonstarter. When he fires them, we'll START to talk.
