There is also a strong link between large transforms and pre-existing structures - suggesting they are created with the ridge. Also offset ridge segments are likely inherited from offset rift segments.

My understanding is that the segmentation of MOR by transforms is a kinematic requirement to connect offset ridge segments. I think there are both long-lived transforms and also more transient ones, both of which influence production of OC, and therefore resulting geometries.

Ok just checked, yes we say we welcome Geology AL explicitly: "GCE AL in two science subjects at grade B or AL Geology at grade B..." Phew! :)

It’s great to see what exciting science students are exposed to at A-Level Geology, and we certainly welcome those students, but we’re also very happy to welcome students with other sciences and/or Geography. First year largely smooths out any differences in knowledge.

This is a fantastic CPD opportunity for any Geology teacher (Anthropogenic or Pre-Cambrian 😉) A great opportunity to network with other teachers and access to some fantastic teaching resources too. I’ve been to a few and it has been immensely helpful for my teaching 👍😁

Pleased to have made a small contribution to this book with colleagues and geology on the as a geological time unit. Theory, evidence, pros, cons, usefulness, practicality and debate all in-one!

A proper geography/geoscience exam paper from the all women Hitchin College (1871), the precursor to Girton College Cambridge. Several books to be written in answer to these. Just thinking if I can get away with some .... watch out first year Earth History students!

The killer for A level Geology has been the move from 4 AS levels to 3 A levels. Loads of students that I have taught picked Geology as a 4th AS with the intention to study it for 1 year but then fell in love with Geology and often ended up studying Geoscience at Uni

Dunno. Maybe that’s something for ESTA? If geology teachers have had an atypically high conversion rate of students going into geoscience in the past, maybe they know where they’re shifting to now? ?
