Thursday Thanks to these books and their authors who have taught me to think, and keep on thinking, about whiteness, race, privilege and power. What would you add?

A very good case for giving the nonsense of UK politics a wide berth...

Big mea culpa from the FT: they were wrong on fiscal austerity. Great. All the years of leftists being ridiculed at Davos & Alpbach, all the lives destroyed, jobs obliterated, fascism fuelled, Greek democracy destroyed... all gone in an instant 1/...

Home Secretary: "The rules are very simple and clear... only leave home for a very very limited number of reasons... outdoor recreation but in a very very restricted and limited way" Outdoor recreation was removed as a reasonable excuse for leaving home in lockdown regulations🤦‍♂️

Just remember this photo when you cast your next vote. Because it’s not just who has undermined democracy today. It’s all of the politicians who have legitimised him and continue to fail to condemn the actions he incited.

When order is restored, the president needs to be impeached and convicted immediately. Right way to signal we are a nation of law. Vote should be unanimous if those in power support American democracy.

Remember: the reason we are locking down for a 3rd time is because of the government’s failure to contain the virus. Containment means an effective test, trace, isolate and support system. Our system was handed to cronies and profiteers, and the £12bn spent on it was wasted.

We have the worst Prime Minister at the worst possible time. Slow, bungling & incompetent. Thankfully the people of this country are bigger & better than him. We must work together to protect our families, neighbors & communities, save lives & then see him thrown from office

Parents who agonised all night about whether to send their children back to school & who finally decided to trust what PM said yesterday & sent kids back, are understandably feeling so upset & angry. Does PM ever stop to think about consequences of his dithering indecision?

I don't just want Johnson to say "Stay home, save lives" etc. I want him to call out and ridicule the bullshit anti-maskers, lockdown skeptics and denialists in his own party - and order social media platforms to suppress/label Covid disinformation. That's leadership.

There are so many ridiculous myths surrounding Covid-19 & our NHS at the moment. Our piece in the tries to address the myths & explain why denial of & the irresponsibility of some in society has aggrieved staff dealing with its impact.

"We are part of nature. We are nature. But we've forgotten that, or somehow been brainwashed into thinking we have nothing to do with nature and nature can just be exploited. Whatever we do to nature, however much we pollute it, we do to ourselves. It is insanity." Who said it?
