I've had to explain this to people multiple times and I still do not understand why it could possibly be difficult to comprehend "I find it much more polite and easier on everyone to communicate in a format that doesn't require anyone to instantly drop everything they're doing."
-
100% agree and I'm over 60.

Im kind of conflicted because this makes a ton of sense but I suck at texting & feel anxiety that ill be bothering someone and they wont understand my tone at all, so ive basically stopped talking to people in general...
-
I feel that too but I do it anyways, because I remind myself that with texting, as stated before, the recipient DOES NOT have to drop what they’re doing to answer. They can answer when it’s convenient! That’s a good thing to remember when you’re like “should I or shouldn’t I”

True for us GenXers, too. Text > talk

We hated talking on the phone before it was cool

So, in a non-ageist form, did you mean to say FYI, many people actually find texting more polite... etc.? I'm such a person. Everyone I know is such a person. We're all "boomers" if you absolutely need to cover us with a blanket, but that generational line-drawing is bullshit.

My mother ADORES the rise of text messaging as a practical means of communication. She always sounds so chipper and just sends me the cutest GIFs so I have zero problem with it!
