And when you find out it’s actually the Navy Cross, your response to traducing this disabled veteran to tens of thousands of people will be what, precisely?

The iron cross and the navy cross do look strikingly similar, especially at a bad angle- I'm pretty sure he didn't intend to insult anyone...
-
Is it fair to say that being a Nazi is a very bad thing, and that progressives ought not to throw that accusation around lightly? Whilst putting “hero” in scare quotes? I will attack any traitor whether or not they wore the uniform, but let’s be absolutely sure before denouncing.

Forearm tattoo 'Guadalcanal' further suggests Marines/Navy.
-
My God, if he won the Navy Cross I don’t know what to say. Thank you for your service, sir, seems a good start,
@perlmutations should begin right there. cc@RossElderWrites -
And that’s whether he won it or not. That’s a Marine. Absent evidence of wrongdoing, the correct civilian posture towards veterans is one of respect and gratitude.
-
Perhaps a family tribute. Generations of service in Marines/Navy.

Turns out he was a lead sweeper of IEDs in Helmand and *lost both legs* to an IED after willingly taking that risk to support his men. Is involved in the Paralympics and supporting victims of the Boston Bombing. I can’t even.pic.twitter.com/saQ9pw9SsD

You may be a self-proclaimed D-List actor, but you Tweet so many faksehoods, you’ve become an F-List Tweeter. You announced you were taking a break from Twiitter, yet you can’t control yourself.

Better not come to Norway then. The coast guard where I live literally has the iron cross as it's logo. Nazis are everywhere Ron!pic.twitter.com/aGqQHBjBeN

Norway fought the Nazis. Why are they now carrying a Nazi symbol?

Considering he also has a Purple Heart, it’s most likely a US Navy cross. It looks like a bayonet or anchor in the middle.pic.twitter.com/sTbrCIm64m

1. He wasn't in the Navy, why would he have a navy cross? 2. if it's supposed to be a Navy cross, why's it got "T2" in the middle instead of the crossed anchors and UNS initials? 3. It wouldn't be the first time.http://security.blogs.cnn.com/2012/02/09/photo-shows-marines-posing-with-nazi-like-symbol-i …
-
You're wrong on the first two. He was a Marine, which is even on his wheelchair. T2 is Marine squadron. The journalist that he plagiarized the accusations from, deleted her tweet.https://heavy.com/news/2018/06/justin-gaertner/ …

Since when did the Marines get merged into the Navy? Last I checked they were two separate branches of the military. Also, this wouldn't be the first time the Marines abided by a literal Neo-Nazi among their ranks:https://twitter.com/EmilyGorcenski/status/1008834870188093440 …
-
It's a separate branch but the Dept of the Navy oversees the Marines.
-
Thanks. They could be right that he's a NAZI, they could be wrong. All I'm saying is the tattoo is not a NAZI symbol.
-
It is not exclusively a Nazi symbol but it codes heavily with modern neo-Nazi and neo-fascist movements, which are of substantially greater importance to the discussion than the symbology of the Third Reich.
