    This can be a very stressful time for PhD students on the Econ Job Market. Checking your phone/email won't help. 1 Keep your advisor in the loop even if there's no news; 2 Focus on small, well-defined tasks (referee reports or things you can complete w/ satisfaction); 3 Hold on.

    Job market candidates, keep in mind as you enter the offer stage that there are many things you may can negotiate other than salary: first pay date, teaching load, # of preps, research/summer support, moving expenses, spousal hiring, PTO/vacation accrual, flex work schedule, etc.

    Me and ’s paper on promotion to top jobs and marriage stability was just published in AEJ: Applied Economics. This picture shows the main finding of the paper: promotion increases the divorce probability for women, but not for men. 1/10

    RT this. Doing econ PhD applications for students is insane and as consequence most people I know have assistants do it for them. Places like UCLA ask ridiculous information that an assistant would not know and would drive faculty crazy. Glad is one of simplest.
