I explain this in an oped above in pg4 of the Inquirer section, in pg1 misinterprets the numbers to show there is nothing new about this fire season and, if anything, there are less fires (which is correct by the numbers but not by interpretation of those numbers)

The "unprecedented" of the fires in 2019-20 in Australia is not the total area burned in the continent but the large proportion of temperate forests burning in the Southeast, its links to climate change, and the loss of critical habitat

Fire weather worsening: more heat, less rainfall I was invited to write an oped for TA on bush fires and climate change. I was surprised. Here it is. Hope it's the beginning of a more honest discussion on climate change.

Fatigue about this fire season in Australia is sinking on me. We have been burning since last September and still plenty of active fires. The one close home gaining speed.

Clearly, the oil and gas industry won’t be the ones paving the way for decarbonisation. See the slice of capital the oil and gas industry is investing in renewables, and carbon capture and storage
