Yeah, scariness. Part of me is like, people are going to exploit this so much. Part of me feels like we all just need to get on with realigning our expectations for how much we can depend on information (video, audio, etc.) to be truthful, sooner rather than later.

For sure! But I think we have to ask, as I'm sure scholars have for a while, what will 'evidence' be in a world where visuals and audio can be easily fabricated?

We can't fabricate details that we "couldn't have known about", or artifacts whose complexity is hard to model (previously, shadows in photographs). But it's harder and harder to reason about what someone couldn't have known, or couldn't generate.
