OH DANG it took me seeing someone else's reply to realize you were talking about within Gemfiles. Of those choices I'd have said "pessimistic selector" but I've always called it "greater than the sub-version ..." Is it used in any other contexts?

I'm sure it is, though Gemfile is where I see it most. I heard the term twiddle-wakka for the first time yesterday and wanted to gauge it's familiarity in the larger community. Turns out people have a bunch of different names for it.
