Friends learning Rust: writing about lifetimes is something I get requests for a lot, but it's hard for me to know exactly where people are stuck. If you're stuck, can you tell me where? Maybe you're reading the book and some part doesn't click? Ask about it with your words!

It's a hard topic to write about, because Rust lifetime inference is getting better and better. It's really not common that I need a lifetime annotation in normal code nowadays, sometimes in library implementations. I often find simply naming them better than 'a and 'b helps!

Sometimes lifetime elision means beginners have that much less context when something goes wrong.
