I nearly didn’t bother posting this, because the posting feels so performative. But part of the problem here is that our government has handled things so dysfunctionally that hard data with which to make precise decisions deliberately does not exist.

Here’s what I know: there have been 2 reported deaths from Covid-19 in Snohomish County and 6 in Kirkland. The geographic and temporal spread is huge. Community transmission has probably been happening for 6 weeks.

I work in Kirkland. Not daily, any more, but I’ve been in to the office a number of times and I’ve been out in the community. My health has been poor. I missed a number of days of work mid-February due to muscle aches, exhaustion, low-grade fever.

I’ve had no respiratory symptoms at all. I thought it was just stomach flu, got plenty of rest, saw a doctor. Probably I’m fine! But who the fuck knows? Will I stay fine? Who the fuck knows? What’s the airport going to be like in two weeks? The airplane?

I hope you are fine and stay that way. And I'm definitely feeling the travel worry. Who will be excited to hang out with someone from Seattle?
