I am personally a fan of the general style of singing in Russian Orthodox churches, though I know little about it as an occasion - it seems to be almost ongoing background music.

Many Jews rave about Kol Nidre, in the Yom Kippur evening service. I've never been able to look past all the baggage I have about synagogues as institutions and services as obligations, but I suppose you could hear it without all that getting in the way.
