    by analogy, it's like saying "company X's low/high stock price means that it is/is not performing well". It's obviously related but not dependent. And if it were dependent, you would see win rates over time in an unpatched game remain constant, which of course they don't.

    something I find frustrating in game design discussions is when empirical data is used to argue the balance of the game in the abstract - X needs buffs because of win rate/damage meters/etc. While it's certainly a tool, you can't eliminate a massive confounding variable (players)

    My UE4 blueprint tip of the day: use "busses" or "tracks" for commonly used variables with reroute nodes at each usage of the variable to avoid spaghetti. I have to give credit for this!

    honestly achievements are mostly fun for me when they’re a way for the designer to talk directly to the player. Stuff like undertales achievements or even when a designer asks you to do something really “wrong” to get a special reward.
