Well, for one thing, I definitely don't like being called the "pseudoscience police." The very name comes across as dismissive of what we do, and the title immediately grated on me, regardless of the merit of the content of the post, as it sounded sarcastic.

Certainly not my intent as I think this work is crucial, as I say in the post. In fact, I like to consider myself part of this group.

Thx for the
#GoScience support! Agree we can't let pseudoscience & misinformation go unchecked. As you note, finding the right tone can be a challenge. Don't want to ridicule patients/public looking for answers. Way more wiggle room with those profiting from bunk! -
When it comes to language describing quacks and leaders of the antivaccine movement, it's take no prisoners, as far as I'm concerned. In contrast, read my posts deconstructing alternative cancer cure testimonials and judge how sympathetic I am for the patients!

I've had a lot of luck teaching high school students about the evidence process and creating an informed, open, yet skeptical audience with a good grasp of the terminology and the ability to ask tough questions. Then, the 'quackery' exposes itself. :-) https://twitter.com/cochranecollab/status/1114924046049738752 …pic.twitter.com/N6ZYeD6hAd

So have we moved from one extreme to the other? Is it time that we started to figure out what the middle looks like? Not sure Pseudoscience Police captures the intent. Maybe Debunkers? A Request to Debunkers | https://kenjaques.com/?p=1689

2/ Debunking the obvious is a good thing. But when these Debunkers call out, for example, all of Integrative Medicine, they lead people to the primary remaining option of more Rx. And that's where the problems started. It's not the Wild West out there.
