We can’t hide the fact that we almost all went along with the experts who downplayed the urgency. There were a small number of alarmists – as they were described at the time – who turned out to be right.

I often hear journals say they can’t take the risk of implementing a new policy when bigger, more prestigious journals haven’t done it yet. Well, Nature now offers open peer review (publishing content of peer review). Ball’s in your court, smaller journals

Does have Lyme? I don't know. Neither do you, . You realize you're in CLYDRN (pillar 4), right? Many in 🇨🇦 are chronically ill, receiving no care, & you emulate the exact position they face. You've confirmed why the TBD community doesn't trust CLYDRN

Buzzfeed piece is further evidence that disinformation is more complicated and pervasive that we want to admit. One firm promised to “use every tool and take every advantage available in order to change reality according to our client's wishes.”

People are not born with this kind of attitude and they don’t acquire it from one day to the next. This attitude is acquired over many years of training in a dogmatic unscientific culture leading to overconfident professionals not aware of their pseudo-expertise.

This👇 - the contempt, the lack of any personal knowledge of this pt, the sheer hubris of this doctor, is demeaning and dangerous to pts, and anathema to the profession of medicine. This has to stop!

I remember a time when physicians had the compassion/professionalism/integrity, not to diagnose patients they had never seen, wouldn’t publicly demean/belittle those with chronic illness, and had the humility to at least make fun of a patient’s illness in private. What happened?

And of course the correction or retraction, if need be, will appear as quickly as the retraction did, right? Because...peer review.

My Nursing Colleague who is an expert on has been saying this for years. Test for pregnant women who suffer from Lyme is advisable and with appropriate antibiotic treatment there is no increased risk of adverse birth outcomes

“People focus on Goop or Dr. Oz or others because, yes, they are influential, but also because it’s a hook that gets you published. It’s amazing to see a bunch of mainstream writers feign ignorance of how mainstream media works.” via Cat. Bag. Out of! 🙀

Prior language on CDC website was different, see slide below. New language 'Spread from mother to fetus is possible but rare' recognizes the possibility of transmission of Bb - all frontline healthcare prof must be made aware of this risk.

This is good news! However, PHAC/CDC own Systematic Review on this issue determined that in several (9) studies, UNTREATED pregnant women with showed 50% adverse birth outcome (compared to 11% of those who were treated). This IS a problem!
