For girls with UTIs, we prescribe antibiotics. We don’t preemptively remove their labia. For STD prevention, we teach girls about safe sex. Nor do we routinely remove breast tissue, or cervix, or reproductive organs in infancy to prevent future cancers. 1/

So why do we do this to our baby boys? Because some rich religious zealot thought it would deter masturbation (because circumcision greatly reduces penile sensitivity/pleasure), so he made routine infant circumcision common practice.
