I have a very different view of feminism, which is of it being a very positive thing.

I was born male and circumcised I didn't consent. Feminism ignored my pain and suffering while screaming bloody murder over fgm... Its easy to see feminism as positive if it only benefits you.

I guess it depends on which branch of feminism you look at. Sure, traditional feminism was focussed on rich, white women. A more modern, intersectional view of feminism is wider. Without knowing your experience, generally there is a big difference between fgm & circumcision.

Do you deny the spectrum of FGM practices, or not classify the forms less invasive than infibulation as mutilation?pic.twitter.com/4UXpSr9M3d

Deny? Not at all. 100% agree that there is a huge range of horrific behaviours. Equally, no, I don’t classify anything less than anything else. My point remains valid that there are numerous differences between fgm & male circumcision.

What are the numerous differences between nonconsensual female genital cutting and nonconsensual male genital cutting?

In asking that question, are you genuinely open to having an exchange of views?

I ask because a lot of the discourse when comparing both FGM and MGM involves gratuitous strawman usage, as if infibulation is the only form of female cutting, and circumcision is the only form of male cutting. But if there's other angles I'm open to consider those.

The important thing is the big commonality between the two: I don’t think either are OK & I wouldn’t put any child through it. FGM v MGM isn’t something that I could talk articulately about as my original reference was solely to circumcision.

We don't care what your personal opinion is one circumcision, we want feminist organizations to be as active in protecting boys as they are in protecting girls... Gender equality. You're inclusive? Include boys.
