I don’t think so because a total clitoridectomy or hood removal exposes the urethra to infection. Maybe a labiaplasty but only if there was an abnormality leading to recurring infection.

"Apparently",Meaning FGM has same excuse as circumcision. Extremely low health risk for non-circumcised boys and same infections as FGM is involved. " the practice helps ensure cleanliness for girls (18.9%)"

19% for ‘cleanliness’ Vs 65% for the control of women’s sexuality (tradition/religion/chastity) is a horrible testament of the rights of so many girls and women. We’re not in a great position to talk tho; it’s crappy all over the world but in our own “unique” ways

The stats for circumcision are quickly dropping thankfully. If they continue to do so at the rates we’re seeing in the West, it’ll be the exception, not the rule as they were 40 years ago in mainstream Australia.

its already the norm to not have it done. 13 years ago basically no talk of it during pregnancy, birth or in at home midwives visits, or at child health clinics. Any people in Aus getting it done are seeking it out through private clinics, so not the masses.

“Australia. Circumcision reached its peak in Aust in the 1950s with a rate of more than 80%, but has steadily fallen to an estimated 26% in 2012. The rate of circumcision has dropped rapidly over the years. It is estimated that roughly 80 percent of males 35 and under are intact”

Professor Morris says public hospitals no longer offer circumcision in Aus and the average rate of circumcision for Aust males aged in their 20s or 30s is around 30%. "But when you look at the lower age ranges, only around 12 percent of Australian boys are circumcised," 2017
