I'm in a mom group and a lady said she has a 18 month old son who is circumcised and she's still having to pull back skin and clean and it gets irritated. Several mom's said you shouldn't still have to do that go get it checked. One mom says I don't know why y'all are saying that

It's an open wound it has to be cleaned so that it doesn't reattach, I did it with every diaper change. I asked how long did you do that? She said her EIGHTEEN months old, typically boys are circumcised at birth it doesn't seem like a wound should stay opened for over a year

She says oh, not that long. Folks are always so ready to say everyone else is wrong instead of looking at the information in front of them to see first if maybe they're wrong.

Umm.. no. Something is DEFINITELY wrong there & she needs to talk to the kids dr. I didn’t circumcise the baby at birth & winded up having to do it at 1yrs old cuz he had phimosis. It was healed & good to go in 2 weeks.

I've never had a son and I told her to trust her mom instincts, she's asking because something is telling her something is wrong. I'm not sure it was done properly.

It doesn’t sound like it was done properly to me. There shouldn’t be excess skin or an open wound at this point. A lot of baby boys get botched. I would def bring it up to the dr.

I didn't think so. When I first read it I thought she was saying he was uncircumcised and was about to say he's going to have to pull that baby foreva! Then I reread and was like ummm, there shouldn't be anything there if it was done right. Poor baby boy

I didn’t circumcise Zorby cuz I wanted to take him home. He had already been in NICU a week & if I wanted it done he would’ve had to stay 4 more days. I just wanted him home☹️ in hindsight I should’ve just done it. Cuz he winded up w/ phimosis so the circumcision was needed 911

Its amazing that so many circumcisions are required in the US. Its mainly due to doctors and nurses who forcibly retract the foreskin because they don't know (?!) that its supposed to be fused to the glans and come unfused later in life.
