Can someone please explain the difference between female genital mutilation and circumcision?
Because it sure seems like in both cases baby genitals are being mutilated.
Yet one is illegal and condemned, but the other is legal and expected.

FGM prevents women from having pleasurable sex, ever, in their lives. So I've read. Is it the same for circumcised guys?

Thats bs. The difference is MAJOR! Female genetal mutilation is a proceedure specifically performed to ensure women cant have sexual pleasure and thus “dont stray”. It causes life long complications even if they dont die of it (many do).

Male circumsision if done by a professional provides some cleanliness benifits and no significant loss of pleasure or function of the penis. No long term complications (though there can be some complications in having uncircumsized and not properly cleaned).

How does the consent factor fit in? Just exploring the topic, not playing devil's advocate. :)

Many medical proceedures are performed on children without “consent” actually. Thats a weak argument. And the trauma is LESS if done on a baby.

Except that circumcision isn’t medically necessary for the very vast majority of boys. Its a cosmetic, aesthetic, anti-masturbation ritual
