Can someone please explain the difference between female genital mutilation and circumcision?
Because it sure seems like in both cases baby genitals are being mutilated.
Yet one is illegal and condemned, but the other is legal and expected.

FGM is actually mutilating a physical functioning part of genitalia. Circumcision is removing "skin" from genitals without necessarily affecting their function...eunuchs would be the closest to FGM that I could think of.

I wonder if removing labia would be a closer example NO LESS PAINFUL but in trying to equivocate... it'd be more like lopping off the penis and just letting it pump semen out without an erection...
