Also, the surgeries spoke of in Intersexion reminded me a bit about the circumcision debate - where the boundaries are blurred between what is done for medical reasons/purely aesthetic, & how much say should a parent have on a child's body before the age of majority.
it shouldn't be polarizing. Most of hte world doesn't practice this and views it as mutilation. The U.S. makes money off it and needs to appease its Jewish community. Circumcision is mutilation.

The research is an interesting read for sure. There are statistics that say it's more sanitary, BUT those are from samples of men in high-risk populations. In the Western world it's most always societal/aesthetic! Everyone should have a choice.
