@poemworld Why should she? FGM and male circumcision are not one and the same. Not culturally, not biologically. They are two separate issues, two separate fights. Start your own movement instead of trying to undermine

Except they are. Culturally the reasons for GM are the same for both sexes, the islamic groups that practice both do it as a religious requirement, the tribal cultures tend to have seen the foreskin as a vestigial labia and the clitoris as a vestigial penis, and removed both.

So to clarify male circumcision involves the removal of the head of the penis is that correct? Male circ involves the suturing of the urethra so that a minimal amount of urine can pass through? Sex following male circ involves the female partner ripping open the penis too right?

No, but neither does most FGM, only one subtype, which is 4% of all FGM involves any suturing shut of the vulva (none suture the urethra but I can see where you're confused) and only about 4 involve any partial clitordectomy. As for ripping open the penis, take a look at >>

2> other forms of MGM, like say penile subincision, where the penis is split along the lenght of the urethra. Acting like all FGM is FGM III and hospital circumcision is the only MGM is dishonest, or uninformed.

At some point it was dishonest, and I am hoping that's just 40 years ago when this whole issue started, I am hoping it's just people like you being uninformed, and culturally biased. But I am pretty sure someone still knows the truth of both and is still pushing the narrative.

It's also curious that you replied to the cultural tweet with a biological argument, I hadn't gotten into biology but if I did I would point out the clitoral hood is homologous to the foreskin and FGM 1A removes just that, other forms remove a portion or cut without removal.

Because I disagree with what your view to such an extent that it’s completely pointless Yes, the clitoral hood is, but as you well know that’s not all that FGM involves for many girls. Remind me which version of male circumcision involves the intentional removal of the glans?

FGM = the intentional removal of the most sensitive part of female genitalia against the will of the individual. MGM = the intentional removal of the most sensitive part of male genitalia against the will of the individual. absolutely. 100%. comparable.

Only if you’re wilfully dishonest about what is removed for many girls subjected to FGM. Again, show me which version of male circumcision involves the removal of the glans? Does male circ lead to death in childbirth for those subjected to it?
