It's also curious that you replied to the cultural tweet with a biological argument, I hadn't gotten into biology but if I did I would point out the clitoral hood is homologous to the foreskin and FGM 1A removes just that, other forms remove a portion or cut without removal.

The clitoris is small and many of the tissues and structures that develop into the structures of the foreskin are not well defined. And so to say the clitoris is analagous to the glans is misleading. For example.....

The frenulum is the most sensitive part of the penis. It is fused to the glans, it is normally part of the underside of the glans. Is it then the glans? Is The equivalent female structure part of the clitoris? Also the ridged band is second most sensitive part of of the penis...

Is the equivalent structure on the clitoris a seperate defined structure? Or is it just part of the clitoralhood. Finally. The foreskin is fused to the glans until roughly puberty. Is it part of the glans at this time? How does the clit and clitoralhood fuse or unfuse?

All you’re doing is continuing to prove my point, which is that FGM and male circumcision are different, biologically and culturally.

So to be clear, it is incorrect for me to state that the male equivalent of the clitoris is the glans? And I am misrepresenting FGM/male circ by stating the two are different because the glans of the penis is not removed during circumcision, but the clitoris often is during FGM?

Here is a person with a very large clitoris. You can see more clearly (becaues its larger) the structure that is the male equivalent of the frenulum, You can also clearly see a large amount of mucousa which in a male is the inner foreskin (largely removed)pic.twitter.com/pXS5jIHsVE

Fgm does not remove only the clit. It removes either: the clitoralhood (analagous to the foreskin; or: the clitoralhood and the clitoris. Circumcision removes tissue analagous to tge clitoralhood BUT...

FGM does not remove the entire clitoris, as it is a mostly internal organ.
