It's also curious that you replied to the cultural tweet with a biological argument, I hadn't gotten into biology but if I did I would point out the clitoral hood is homologous to the foreskin and FGM 1A removes just that, other forms remove a portion or cut without removal.

Because I disagree with what your view to such an extent that it’s completely pointless Yes, the clitoral hood is, but as you well know that’s not all that FGM involves for many girls. Remind me which version of male circumcision involves the intentional removal of the glans?

FGM = the intentional removal of the most sensitive part of female genitalia against the will of the individual. MGM = the intentional removal of the most sensitive part of male genitalia against the will of the individual. absolutely. 100%. comparable.

Only if you’re wilfully dishonest about what is removed for many girls subjected to FGM. Again, show me which version of male circumcision involves the removal of the glans? Does male circ lead to death in childbirth for those subjected to it?

How about this, we agree to drop the comparisons if you agree to only fight against those forms of FGM that do involve what you're claiming, only FGM IIB, IIC and III have that childbirth risk, only those and IB have the partial clitordectomy.

Either you have to abandon the fight to protect those girls who are subjected to less invasive procedures than boys are at a much, much higher rate, or admit that on the average FGM is less invasive than circumcision. The only option three is to continue to be dishonest.

Plus of course you are pushing the false myth that the glans is the most sensitive part of the penis, it's not, it's been shown to be the least sensitive part time and time again, in pretty much every study of comparative sensitivity

So now you’re advocating denial of biological fact in order to equate the two? The glans of the penis is the male equivalent to the female clitoris. The foreskin is the male equivalent to the female labia minora. This is biological fact.

But study after study has shown that the ridged band and frenulum are The most sensitive part of the penis. In fact the least sensitive parts of the foreskin are MORE sensitive than the most sensitive part of a circumcised penis. This is genital mutilationpic.twitter.com/wu8Z7gPp6a

Never said it wasn’t, what I said, repeatedly, was FGM and male circumcision are not the same, biologically or culturally.

But they are. They both originated to damage sexuality, they both persist under false health claims and cultural normalization

Don’t disagree. But different cultures (male circ prevalent in countries where FGM is not and vice versa) and different biological implications.

Then are you arguing that every single anti genital mutilation campaign needs to be broken up? That there must be an anti FGM III campaign specific to say Somalia which is different from the anti FGM IA campaign in Malaysia? the cultural differences between FGM in different >>
