France has regular Dr checks for all under 6 – hence far more successful FGM prosecutions. In UK “cultural sensitivity” makes people “reluctant to intervene” https://bbc.in/2Dfujwu Well to hell with “cultural sensitivity”. If your “culture” includes FGM, get a better culture.

In my previous FGM tweet I remembered to forestall the predictable whataboutery. This time there wasn’t enough space. Yes male circumcision is a topic worth discussing but it is a different topic. By all means start your own thread on it. But please stop de-railing this thread.

Regarding male circumcision, there really is a huge difference between having a bit of skin cut off and what FGM is. I have a friend who was circumcised due to a workplace accident. Apart from a couple of days of tenderness he is fine. FGM is not like that.

Let’s try this again because the last Tweet wasn’t clear:
Happy Female Circumcision Month when women from communities continue to reject the “FGM” narrative and laws restricting adult choice.
MYTH: Women are subjected to FC.
FACT: Women volunteer to undergo and promote FC. pic.twitter.com/6NOG7vgBsh
