They were in a committed relationship at the time. He wanted the pregnancy more than she did. When they broke up, his motivation to do the right thing by his own child dissipated. He loves his son, but he isn’t willing to go out of his way to support him.

In your view, she did all the right things - the pregnancy was unplanned, so she consulted the father on his preference. She had no desire to keep her son from his dad after the break up, and didn’t request full custody, but was granted it because her ex didn’t want 50/50.

I’ve seen an awful lot of dads who ducked out after a break up, so we’re both influenced by what we’ve witnessed. There’s never any guarantee things will go smoothly or you’ll get what you want no matter your gender, & it’s sadly something you have to accept - abortion included.

Men barred women from combat & generally don’t hire women for these kinds of jobs. Men work more because women are expected to take less senior roles, be the 1 to keep house & take more time off for kids, & men die more because the patriarchy says they should be strong & silent.
