    DuckDuckGo launches a public beta of their single-origin email system, with tracker removal. It integrates with their browser and extension. With the push to use hashed emails for tracking, this is going to become common practice.

    ICYMI: The CA AG has updated their FAQs to clarify that: “Under law, [GPC] must be honored by covered businesses as a valid consumer request to stop the sale of personal information.” More info:

    I promised to share a list of prominent 3p scripts that started collecting FLoC cohort IDs. Our last two Tracker Radar crawls have the data, but looking at the May crawl:

    "Companies are starting to combine FLoC IDs with existing identifiable profile information, linking unique insights about people’s digital travels to what they already know about them, even before third-party cookie tracking could have revealed it."

    We’re encouraged by ’s roll out their ‘global tracking control’ in iOS 14.5 and hope they extend the ability for consumers to exercise their legal rights to privacy (such as a CCPA opt-out) just as simply as they can technical mitigations like blocking device identifiers.

    We decided to opt Chrome users out of FLoC (Google’s cookie tracking replacement) using the extension. Details here:

    This new post explains a number of key points on cross-site web tracking that we see increasingly confused. It is well worth a close read so please check it out, and I will also unpack a few of these points a bit more in this thread. Direct link to post:

    Major browsers are upping their privacy promises (a good thing), but unfortunately this does not mean they actually stop Google & Facebook tracking. To do that, you have to totally stop their trackers from loading, like the DuckDuckGo app & extension do.
