I’m starting to believe that one of the reasons why Rust is perceived to compile more slowly than C++ is that Rust *forces* use of “modern C++” idioms everywhere, while industrial C++ tends to be more C-like than C++ fans want to admit.

@krisjusiak look at the footprint of a compile time generated state machine is using boost.sml or@odinthenerd 's kvasir. Longer compile times? Sure, footprint? Extremely low, lower then any alternative, which is basically the point of them in the first plac - 1 more reply

Modern c++ does not and does not claim to solve memory problems. Core guidelines can help with that, the sanitizers can help, raii can help a lot, but there is not silver bullet. And no free lunch
