To those writing programming language benchmarks: Stop benchmarking rand(). You are hurting security by penalizing default CSPRNG use.

I think it may depend on what one wants the random numbers for. for many (non-security) use-cases, a deterministic sequence is more useful vs "actually random". but, here it would be better to have an RNG with an explicit state object vs a shared global state.
