It’s obvious in retrospect, but working with floats all the time has really made me appreciate defensive programming.

I was just talking to someone in the team about this! Do you know if browser algos are known to work well on floats, and where? Or do people usually just do doubles to be “safe”? The person I asked didn’t know either.

There were some great bits on the Chucklefish thread on /r/rust about this. Rust makes you actually handle all the weirdness so it feels a lot harder than C, but in C you're just writing code that will mysteriously fail.

I guess this is a pretty coherent observation on writing Rust code vs. C code in general: It's harder to write Rust because the compiler will force you to think about things that would just be hard-to-find bugs in C.
