Does it follow, from m:n being a bad default for the thing you ship as posix threads in libc, that Go programs are wrong to use it?

Depends on the circumstances. I think it’s an advantage in some ways but a disadvantage in others, and the disadvantages are often ignored.

The problems then still exist today. Go just has other features, like small stacks, that (IMHO) get conflated with benefits of M:N.

It is still used to great effect in Erlang, it just doesn't fit everything.
