People demand parallelism from programming languages a lot more than they actually use it when offered.

By the time people consider parallelism, the program has already become so large/intricate that adding parallelism is infeasible.

Also true. I think "parallel for loop" is a great starter facility. I mean, it's common for people to run make -j so it's not _impossible_.
