Because it’s compatible with existing code. Doing a blocking syscall kicks your scheduler awake.

Because M:N is fundamentally wrong. It trades massive complexity just so you can slack off and not fix your scheduler not to suck.

Isn't it deprecated? But I thought so too.

A quick Google search suggests it’s not deprecated, just not useful for parallel workloads. SQL Server still uses it apparently

I think people will use it more once there's actually a crate that wraps it nicely, even better if it has a fallback for inferior platforms.
