I assume so, yes. I think “no generics” is probably a defensible design decision.

Ah gotcha. Personally, I'd approach this from the other direction: start with a solid ML core and clean up/simplify/carefully extend.

how would generics w/o traits/TCs work? like in C++...? (any reason /not/ to re-use interfaces as type bounds, if you have them anyway?)
