Did anyone ever figure out how SIMD-aligned types were supposed to work in Swift? I recall polymorphic code assuming align <= 8 somewhere.

If you're writing SSE code you're unlikely to want to tolerate the overhead of dynamic polymorphism too

True, but performance wise movdqu vs movdqa is unlikely to have much impact on modern uarches

Hmm, my understanding was that movdqu is "as fast" as movdqa only when the data happens to be aligned.
