I think we really need to have data. Both on unloading background tabs *and* iframes/cross origin use. I am not optimistic.

The Web just wasn’t built around a process-per-origin model. This is why memory safety is nice: you don’t have to compromise :)

Not an either-or…I’m not opposed to site isolation (I implemented it) :) I just don’t think it’s sufficient, because of process limits.

I think a combo of safe code & process isolation is the best option. Just we haven't gotten to absolutely safe code, so isolation is useful.
